Because of poorly developed infrastructure and power grids , low capacity and inefficient diesel and gasoline powered generators are the preferred choice of power generation among most rural as well as urban region in Africa. These low capacity generators produce on the average 6 hours of power a day and has a distance from the household of around 5.5 meters. The result of this is increased noise and air pollution and expensive energy costs for families. Decentralized solar has therefore the ability to provide clean, inexpensive energy while reducing local pollution and protecting global climate change.
